Privacy
We don't invade your privacy
What HomeNews does and does not do when you read it, in plain words.
No cookies for readers
Reading HomeNews sets no cookies. The only cookie on this site is the sign-in for our editors' review desk, and readers never receive it.
No trackers, no third-party scripts, no ads
There are no analytics services, advertising pixels, social media widgets or embedded players on HomeNews. Every page, font and style comes from our own server, and our security policy tells your browser to refuse anything from anywhere else. We run no ads.
Your location stays with us, briefly
To show local news, our server estimates your city from your IP address, using a location database stored on that same server. The address is used for that one lookup in memory and is never stored, logged or sent anywhere. We never ask your browser for your location.
If the estimate is wrong, or you want another place, pick it on the Local page. Nothing remembers your choice.
Aggregate page counts only
We count how many times each page is viewed per day, and that is all. The count has no IP address, no browser details, no cookie and no search terms attached, so it cannot be traced to you.
Links to other sites
Headlines and story sources link to the original publishers. When you follow one, that site's own privacy policy applies. Your browser tells them only that you came from HomeNews, not which page you were reading.
