Holiday decor trends and smart storage solutions shape home design this season

Apartment Therapy reported that Five Below's new holiday decor is shifting away from traditional red and green, with pink emerging as a dominant color for the season. The retailer's updated palette is being described as a fresh alternative for consumers seeking a softer, more modern aesthetic in their seasonal displays. Meanwhile, the same outlet highlighted a vintage-inspired sideboard from IKEA that mimics mid-century design but at a lower price point, calling it a standout find for those looking to elevate their living spaces without high costs. Apartment Therapy also noted that Mustard Made’s locker-style storage units, originally designed for schools, are now being used as colorful, maximalist home solutions — with multiple reviews praising their ability to reduce visual clutter in entryways and living rooms. One user transformed their entryway with a vintage-inspired locker unit, while another repurposed a similar model for everyday storage, both citing the product’s wide color range as a key appeal. In a separate feature, a homeowner refreshed a former home office into a cozy guest bedroom by swapping out wallpaper and adding handmade textiles, demonstrating how small, personal DIY projects can redefine a room’s feel. These trends reflect a broader consumer interest in functional, nostalgic, and customizable design elements that blend utility with aesthetic warmth.
